FAQ

Common questions

Which calculator do I use to know how much margin a gold trade locks up?

Use the margin calculator. It takes your lot size, the XAU/USD price and the leverage cap that applies to the entity serving the Philippines, and returns the deposit the position ties up. The reference case is about $85.50 for 0.10 lot. Remember the cap is a ceiling, not a target to trade at.

How do I work out what one pip is worth on my gold position?

Use the pip value calculator. For XAU/USD one pip is 0.01 and one standard lot is 100 oz, so the pip value scales directly with your lot size. Enter the size and the tool gives the peso or dollar value of a 0.01 move, which is the number you need before setting a stop.

Which tool tells me the profit or loss on a closed or planned trade?

The profit calculator. Give it your entry price, exit price and lot size, and it returns the result in the quote currency, which you can then read against the peso. It is the quickest way to check whether a target is worth the risk before you place the order rather than after.

How do pivot points fit into a gold trade plan?

The pivot points calculator derives support and resistance levels from the prior session's high, low and close. Gold reacts to these levels often enough that many traders use them to place stops and targets rather than picking round numbers. Treat them as reference levels, not signals, and combine them with your own position sizing.

Do I need all five calculators or just one?

Most readers need three in sequence: position size to fix the risk, pip value to place the stop, and margin to check the deposit. Profit answers the question after the fact, and pivot points are optional context. Start with position size, because it is the one that keeps a single gold trade from damaging the account.
